Ravi Deshpande on jury for Asia Outdoor Advertising Awards

The Asia Outdoor Advertising (AOA) Awards 2007 has announced its jury list. Ravi Deshpande, chief creative officer, Contract Advertising, is among the eight jury members for this year’s awards function.

Earlier in the year, Deshpande judged the Dubai Lynx Awards 2007. He was part of the Film Jury for the recent Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival; he has also judged The One Show held in New York and the Malaysian Kancil Awards last year.

The jury for the AOA awards is chaired by Tay Guan Hin, regional executive creative director, JWT South-East Asia. He says, “The quality of any awards show depends on its jury panel. I’m sure you’ll recognise every single name. The diverse cultures of each creative professional in the jury panel will make an interesting selection in the final result.”

The other seven members of the jury are Chuck McBride, founder and executive creative director, Cutwater, San Francisco; Julian Watt , executive creative director, Network BBDO, South Africa; Thirasak Tanapatanakul, executive creative director, Creative JuiceG1, Thailand; Doerte Spengler-Ahrens, managing director and creative director, Jung von Matt, Germany; Szu Lee, deputy chairman and executive creative director, McCann Worldgroup, Malaysia; Satoshi Takamatsu , ECD, Ground LLC, Tokyo; and Zak Mroueh, chief creative officer, TAXI, Canada.

The jury will conduct the judging process from October 1 to October 3, 2007, in Singapore. The results will be announced during the awards banquet on October 26, 2007, at Suntec, Singapore. The call for entries is currently open. The deadline for entries is August 31, 2007.

AOA aims to facilitate the growth and development of outdoor advertising through its three components – exhibition, conference and awards. It is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As).
