Sonal Dabral on London International Awards Jury

Dabral will judge the Poster and Outdoor, Print and Television/Cinema categories at the LIA 2007

Sonal Dabral, chairman and executive creative director, O&M, Singapore, has been invited to judge the Poster and Outdoor, Print and Television/Cinema categories at the London International Awards, 2007.

The London International Awards is in its 22nd year. It recognises creative work in advertising, design and digital media from all over the world. Tony Granger, chief creative officer, Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, is the jury president for the 2007 Poster and Outdoor, Print and Television/Cinema categories. Dabral will be a judge for the award categories along with 31 others from all over the world.

Prior to LIA, Dabral judged the Singapore Media Awards in 2006. In the past, he has also been part of the International Andy Awards 2005 and the Times Asia Pacific Advertising Awards 2003 juries.

Dabral is an NID graduate and started his career with Lintas, Delhi (now Lowe), spending five years there. He moved to O&M, Mumbai, in 1989 to join Piyush Pandey, the then creative director of the agency. He spent 10 years at O&M, Mumbai, and, together with Pandey, helped O&M become one of the top creative agencies in the country. During that time, they won several regional, national and international awards, including at Cannes and the Clios.

In 1999, Dabral was offered the post of executive creative director at O&M, Kuala Lumpur, and he moved out of the country. During his time in Malaysia, O&M won the Grand Prix at the Asian Media Awards 2000, followed by Malaysia’s first One Show Gold. Other awards include those won at Adfest, Cannes, the Clios and the D&ADs.

Dabral took over as the chairman and ECD of O&M, Singapore, in 2004.

LIA received 17,139 entries from 80 countries last year. The number of entries received this year is yet to be announced. The judging will take place from mid-August to the end of September. The results are likely to be announced in October.
