Alok Ghosh is senior CD at Bates David Enterprise

Ghosh has more than two decades of experience in the advertising industry

Alok Kumar Ghosh, aka Dada, has been brought in as senior creative director, Bates David Enterprise, Chennai. He moves in from TBWA, Chennai.

Speaking about the appointment, Vijay Jacob, V-P and GM, Bates David Enterprise, Chennai, says, “What’s great about Dada’s work is an inventive, refreshing perspective. He will help raise our creative standards and add more muscle to the creative team. He’s come in at an opportune time, when we’re geared up to move into our new office.”

Ghosh started his career in advertising in 1986 in Mudra, Ahmedabad, as visualiser. He stayed there for two and a half years and left as senior visualiser. Rediffusion, Kolkata, happened in 1989; he moved in as art director for a year. He moved to the Mumbai branch in 1990 for five months as senior art director. In April 1990, he joined the agency’s Delhi branch as group head.

In 1992, Ghosh moved to McCann, Delhi, as group head; he stepped out in 1994 as associate creative director. He moved to JWT (then HTA), Chennai, later that year for a short stint as associate creative director. He joined Fifth Estate, Chennai, in 1995 and was there for about one and a half years as creative director, art. Following this, he shifted base to Delhi and joined Everest as creative director.

He joined RK Swamy/BBDO, Kolkata, in 1997. He was there for a year as creative director, art. He returned to Mudra for a short second stint, this time to the Chennai branch as creative director, where he launched Satyam Online. In 1999, he joined Goldwire for a short stint as creative director, art. He moved to Fountainhead in 2000 at the same position, and stayed there for two years. In 2002, he was creative consultant for Maitri, Kochi, and also looked after training. He moved out in 2005 to join TBWA India’s Chennai branch as creative director, and has been there since then.

Dada says, “With 22 years in 12 agencies, working with 35 brands across five cities, what I bring to the table is experience. As the team here is young, I’d like share my experience to help enhance their work.”

Amongst the brands that Ghosh has worked upon in his career are Eveready, Tata Tea, CitiBank, Bata, Ray-Ban, Nescafe, Gillette, Schwarzkopf Palette and Sify.
