Anirban Sen to join TBWA, Delhi as head, creative

Sen has experience of 14 years in the advertising industry

Anirban Sen, vice-president, creative, McCann, Delhi, has put in his papers. He is slated to join TBWA, Delhi as head, creative. He is still serving his notice period at McCann and will take on his new position at TBWA on August 1.

Sen has experience of 14 years in the advertising industry. A graduate in English, he began his career in advertising in 1993, with Genesis Advertising, Kolkata, as a trainee. He was there for a year, after which he moved to Saatchi & Saatchi, Kolkata, as copywriter; he shifted to the Bangalore branch in a year. He got elevated to senior copywriter during his stay at the agency, and left it in 1997. Following this, he moved to SSC&B Lintas, Bangalore, as senior copywriter in 1997.

In 1999, he returned to Saatchi & Saatchi, Bangalore, for his second stint. This time around again, he spent a year at the Bangalore branch, and relocated to join the Delhi office. He served as creative supervisor during his second stint. In 2001, he moved out to join Lowe, Delhi, as associate creative director. He worked there for two years and, in 2003, took up the position of creative director, Grey, Delhi. In 2005, he joined McCann, Delhi, and has been there till now.

Amongst the brands that Sen has worked on through his career span are Coca-Cola, Hyundai Accent, Maruti Wagon R, Nestle Polo, Samsung Home Appliances, Nescafe Classic, Wrigley’s, General Motors (Aveo, SRV, Aveo-UVA) and Happydent.

Commenting on his appointment, George John, CMD, TBWAIndia, says, “Our objective is now to raise the creative bar for the agency. And Anirban will expedite this process. His mandate will be to lead a strong pool of creative talent in Delhi to ensure that strategy born out of disruption results in equally disruptive creative ideas.”

Last month, TBWA lost an old hand in Siddharth Prasad, a CD, who had been with the agency for 12 years. He recently moved to FCB Ulka. Another addition to the creative team has been that of Somenath Chakraborty, as a CD; he has moved here from Lowe.
