Emmanuel Upputuru to judge London International Awards 2007

Upputuru is judging an awards ceremony for the first time ever

After Sonal Dabral, chairman and executive creative director, O&M, Singapore, there will be a second representative of the agency at the London International Awards 2007 – Emmanuel Upputuru, senior creative director, O&M, Delhi.

Upputuru will be a part of the jury judging the television entries. Dabral will be judging the Poster and Outdoor, Print and Television/Cinema categories. Upputuru says, "I am really excited about being on the jury! There are some names on the jury that I really respect and am looking forward to some intense debates."

Upputuru has bagged several awards in his career, but this is the first time he will be a judge. He has two Lions and five Abbys to his credit, plus one bronze at the AdFest, Bangkok; his work for various brands has been nominated at Cannes, One Show, Clio and D&AD.

Upputuru has experience of 12 years in the advertising industry. He joined O&M Delhi in 2002. Following that, he moved to Saatchi & Saatchi in 2003 and moved back to O&M in 2005 for his second stint at the agency.

Upputuru is currently in charge of the creative work that flows out of the Delhi branch of O&M. He has also worked with agencies such as Contract, Leo Burnett and McCann-Erickson. Some of the accounts that Upputuru has worked on include Shell, Dabur, Nokia, Mother Dairy, Gillette, Limca, Sprite, Motorola, Maruti and American Express.

In its 22nd year, the London International Awards (LIA) honours work in advertising, design and digital media. The winners will be announced in October. The number of entries has not been announced yet. Last year, a total of 17,139 entries from 80 countries were received for the LIA. Tony Granger, chief creative officer, Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, is the jury president for the 2007 Poster and Outdoor, Print and Television/Cinema categories.

Some others from the Indian advertising fraternity who will sit on juries at LIA 2007 are Agnello Dias (Aggie), national creative director, JWT; Bobby Pawar, national creative director, Mudra; KV Sridhar (Pops), national creative director, Leo Burnett; Priti Nair, national creative director, Grey; Santosh Padhi, executive creative director, Leo Burnett; and Alok Nanda, managing director, Alok Nanda and Company (ANC).
