Rahul Welde elevated to V-P, media services, HUL

Rahul Welde, general & #BANNER1 & # manager, media services, Hindustan Unilever Ltd - South Asia, has been elevated to the post of vice-president, media services, Asia AMET (Africa, Middle East and Turkey). Asia AMET is among the three principal regions of Unilever operations. The other two regions include Europe and North and South America.

Following the development, Welde is likely to move base from India to a new location within Asia AMET. But the new location is still undecided. When contacted, Welde remarked, "It's still a bit tentative as to where my new base is going to be."

Welde has been associated with HUL since the beginning of his career. After completing his MBA in 1991, he joined HUL (then HLL - Hindustan Lever Ltd) as a management trainee. During this time, he worked on a variety of assignments, including commercial, sales and corporate centre.

Welde became general manager, media service, in the beginning of 2005, after B Venkataramanan, group media manager, HUL, was shifted to the UK as vice-president, media buying, Unilever.

Globally, Unilever specialises in home and personal care products and food and beverages. In India, HUL has 20 distinct categories in the fields mentioned with a scale of combined volumes of about four million tonnes and sales of Rs 10,000 crore.
