Senior management changes at Madison Media Plus

Basabdutta Chowdhuri has been elevated as the CEO of Madison Media Plus, while Praveen Sharma, who was heading the Airtel business, will now be called COO

The top management & #BANNER1 & # of Madison Media Plus has undergone some changes. Basabdutta Chowdhuri, COO, Madison Media Plus, has been elevated as CEO. Praveen Sharma, general manager, Madison Media Plus, on the Airtel business, has stepped into her shoes as COO.

Chowdhuri has experience of 14 years in the media planning and buying industry. She started her career at 'The Times of India' in the response department in 1990. After working for around a year there, she took a break to join TBWA (then Anthem) in 1993 as media planner. She was there for a year and a half, after which she joined McCann in 1994 as senior media planner. After a short stint there, she took a break to move to Grey as media supervisor in 1997.

In mid-1998, Chowdhuri joined Madison Media as media manager. After a break, she joined Madison, Bangalore, in 2000 as media director for BPL and Tata Tea. In 2002, she relocated to Madison, Delhi, in the same capacity. In 2003, she was promoted as general manager, and in 2005, she was elevated to COO. In her career, she has worked on brands such as JCT, WorldPhone, Sony, Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser, Glaxo SmithKline, Bausch & Lomb, Swiss Air, Coca-Cola, Perfetti, General Motors, Airtel, BBC World Service, Mother Dairy, Bacardi, Somani Group and ABN Amro.

Sharma is a MICA graduate. He joined Rediffusion, Mumbai, in 1996. In 1998, he moved to Lowe (then Lintas), Delhi, in the media department. He stayed there for five years before stepping out in 2003 as national planning head on ITC. He went on to join Mediaedge:cia on the Nokia AoR in the same year. In 2004, he joined Madison Media as business director. He has worked on businesses such as Maruti, ITC, Sony Ericsson and Gillette.
