After revealing its plans to enter the broadcasting space a few months ago, BAG Films and Media has finally come out with the name of the umbrella under which the group’s broadcasting activities will take place. The upcoming broadcasting venture will be known as Network24 and will include two 24-hour television channels. The entertainment channel is named E24, and the 24-hour news channel, News24.

Anurradha Prasad, managing director, BAG Films and Media, seemed very excited about the name as she talked about the television channels and digital ventures to agencyfaqs! over the phone from London. “This is the age of 24-hour. We need entertainment and news round the clock and through our two channels, we pledge to do so. Hence the name Network24.”

After the launch of the two channels, the company’s radio venture, Radio Dhamaal, which has licences for 10 cities, will also be brought under the Network24 banner.

“This is possibly the first time in India that a TV content producing company with a proven track record in the production of both news and entertainment software, including reality shows, will be harnessing and integrating its experience, skill sets and resources to get into broadcasting,” says Prasad.

The company is poised to launch a network covering the entire spectrum of audiovisual infotainment encompassing TV, radio, digital, new media and content creation.

“We are already into radio and television, content creation and new media, and moving forward with digital and mobile content will complete the circle for us,” she says.

According to Prasad, both the channels are on schedule for an early November launch.
