BAG to roll out two specialised channels early next year

While the lifestyle channel, Life24, will compete directly with NDTV Good Times and Discovery Travel and Living, the wellness channel, Bliss24, will be the first of its kind in the country

Under the broadcasting venture, Network24, the Anurradha Prasad-promoted BAG Films will roll out two more channels early next year – Bliss24, a wellness channel, and Life24, a lifestyle channel. This is in addition to E24, the entertainment channel, and News24, the 24-hour news channel, both of which are set for a November launch.

“In addition to the two channels that we will launch this year, we will launch one lifestyle channel and a wellness channel early next year. This will complete the four channels that we pledged under the Network24 umbrella,” reveals Anurradha Prasad, managing director, BAG Films and Media.

While Life24 will compete directly with NDTV Good Times and Zoom, Bliss24 will be the first in the country dedicated to health and wellness.

“The wellness channel will be about wellness of the body, mind and spirit. Wellness will be the path to a better, longer, more fulfilling life,” says Prasad.

After the launch of the four channels, the company’s radio venture, Radio Dhamaal, which has licences for 10 cities, will also be brought under the Network24 banner.

BAG isn’t the only media house rolling out one channel after another. Others planning new channels are INX Media, Viacom-CNBC, Miditech, R-ADAG and UTV, apart from old horses such as Zee, NDTV and STAR. This might lead to a big jump in the number of available channels over the next year.
