Indore to get loos with ads from Laqshya Media

Laqshya Outdoors, a subsidiary of Laqshya Media, will construct and maintain 25 modern public toilets in exchange for ad revenues through advertising space

Laqshya Media, a multinational Out Of Home (OOH) media and asset-ownership company, has bagged a contract from the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) to build and maintain a chain of 25 modern public utilities in the city. On October 4, 2005 the first such public toilet was unveiled. Laqshya Media plans to roll out the remaining 24 utilities in the coming 3-4 months and will provide sanitation facilities to the public at no cost.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Soumitra Bhattachrya, CEO, Laqshya Outdoors, said, "It’s a public-private partnership and the entire utility will be constructed by us and we will recover the construction cost by advertising. Such public sanitation utilities are common to cities like Delhi but in Indore it is first of its kind.” Stressing the obvious need for India to have public utilities in place, he also said, "The only way the government can get this done without incurring any cost is by working with OOH companies like ours. The city, the public and the government benefits, it’s a win-win situation for all".

Laqshya Media, started in 1997, is an OOH media company which is also working in Sri Lanka, North Africa, SE Asian countries and Mauritius. Last month it got the creative duties for the Hyderabad International Airport and it also recently got the creative duties for Sri Lanka's Colombo Airport for the next five years.
