Rahul Sengupta seeks fresh pastures in television

After an 11 year stint at Lowe, Sengupta is making his way to programming content for television

Rahul Sengupta, executive creative director, copy, at Lowe is spending his last two days at the agency. Sengupta, who has been with the agency for 11 years, now plans to start his own venture.

Sengupta started his career in advertising at Mudra in 1993. He spent four years with Mudra, two years in Mumbai and two in Bangalore. From Mudra, Sengupta moved to Lowe and has been there since then. Sengupta has worked on brands such as Britannia, Indya.com (cricket chat), Kissan Jam (‘Jammy’), Maruti, LG, ICICI Prudential, Bajaj Calibre (‘Hoodibaba’), and Bajaj Wind (‘Discover Wind Biking’). His recent work includes the Bengali setup ad for Tanishq and the Fastrack ad with actor John Abraham.

Sengupta has spent two years in Lowe Mumbai, and the rest of his term in Bangalore. He holds an economics honours degree from St Xavier’s College in Kolkata and an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies in New Delhi.

Sengupta says, “It’s not that I’m moving out. I might just return to advertising. But what I am off to do now is television. It’s been a dream for a long time.”

Sengupta is venturing into the content programming space for television. He wants to start his own media content venture, which will be announced very soon.

His chair at Lowe will now seat Deepa Geeta Krishna. She is currently group creative director.
