ITA, Big Reach bring TV celebrities together for T20 match

The Twenty20 match was part of the marketing activity for the ITA awards, which is to be held in November

The Indian Television Academy (ITA), in association with Big Reach, organised a Twenty20 cricket match on October 28, which saw many television stars particpate.

The match, which was held at the Andheri Sports Complex, was part of the marketing activity for the ITA awards, which are to be held in November. The two competing teams were TCI (Television Cricket Club of India) captained by Varun Badola and TCL (Television Cricket League) captained by Manav Gohil. Both captains are well-known television actors.

The teams comprised Manoj Biddvai, Sharad Kelkar, Bakhtiyaar Irani, Karan Wahi, Amit Behl, Aditya Narayan, Romit Raj, Indraneel Sengupta, Abhijeet Sawant, Gaurav Chopra, Vikas Manaktala, Kabir Sadanand, Shaan, Chaitaniya, Manish Goswami and many others. The cheerleader squad featured Roopali Ganguly, Parakh Madan, Poonam Gulati, Purbi Joshi, Monaz, Priyanka Bassi, Gauri Nigudkar and Jasweer.

The commentators included actor and Big 92.7 FM RJ Vrajesh Hirjee and Archana Jani, Ravi Behl, Tanaaz Currim, Manini De, Suresh Menon, Ashiesh Roy, Sumeet Raghavan and Manoj Joshi. Reliance Mobile sponsored the event and Big FM was the official radio partner.

Speaking on the occasion, ITA president Anu Ranjan said, “A part of the proceeds of the Twenty20 celebrity charity cricket match will be used for creating awareness amongst people who are indulging in the heinous act of terminating the girl foetus.” The earnings from the match will be given to Beti, a movement against female foeticide.

Sanjay Behl, head, brand and marketing, Reliance Communications, said, “The new format of Twenty20 cricket has created tremendous interest, not just among cricket enthusiasts, but also among newer consumer segments such as women and children. He continued, “We are proud to be associated with the ITA Twenty20 match being played by celebrities from the field of television to support such a noble cause.”

The TCL team, headed by Varun Badola, won the T20 match and received the Big T20 trophy, while the losing team was awarded mementos.
