MindShare reverts to one-MD strategy

Instead of two managing directors, Raman and Gowthaman, Mindshare will have a country MD in Gowthaman. Meanwhile, Raman has been given international duties

In a major top brass churn, Mindshare has made two key promotions with the announcement of R Gowthaman as managing director of MindShare India, erstwhile managing director for the west and south India. Sundar Raman has been given international portfolio in order to move away from two-MD strategy. He was earlier working as managing director, north and east.

Talking to agencyfaqs!, Vikram Sakhuja, COO, GroupM, South Asia, says, “We have come back to one-MD strategy with these key moves. Sundar will be taking up international roles while Gowthaman would be MD for MindShare India." The change will be in effect within next fortnight. Till mid-2006 MindShare followed one-MD strategy before Sakhuja was promoted as Group M COO, South Asia.

Raman, has been a hardcore loyalist with MindShare who started his career with Mindshare as a trainee. He held important positions such as Mindshare Delhi head in early 2004 before taking over bigger responsibilities of managing director, North and East.

"Right now I am going for a 2-month break and once I join back I 'll takeover new responsibilities which are being worked out," reveals Raman. Prior to moving in as MD of MindShare, Gowthaman was heading MindShare Fulcrum – the agency dedicated to handle the HUL business.
