BharatMatrimony is now Consim Info, plans global expansion

The Bharatmatrimony Group has been renamed Consim Info Pvt. Ltd and plans to expand its services to foreign markets such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka

The BharatMatrimony Group, a leading online classified player on the Internet in India, has changed the name of its holding company to Consim Info Pvt. Ltd. According to company sources, ‘Consim’ stands for ‘consumer services through Internet and mobile’.

Apart from the Bharatmatrimony.com site, the company owns other sites such as Clickjobs.com, Indiaproperty.com, Indialist.com (local classifieds), Loanwala.com and Indiaautomobile.com

“We opted for Consim because the name goes well with the type of services we offer. Also, we wanted to communicate to people that the company has moved beyond matrimony and owns various verticals in the field of jobs, real estate, automobile and finance,” says Murugavel Janakiraman, founder and CEO, Consim Info.

Murugavel says the company is looking to tap foreign markets such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It will target its religion based matrimonial sites, including Christianmatrimony.com and Muslimmatrimonial.com, to global audiences.

Jankiraman does not deny the company is planning an IPO to power its expansion plans. He says, “Two years down the line, we could go for an IPO.”

Consim will now provide more of its services on the mobile as well. It is planning to launch mobile internet service of Bharatmatrimony.com soon. Recently, the site tied up with Nokia to offer Bharatmatrimony services through the Nokia Catalogs, which offer preloaded content like ringtones and games on handsets.

The Bharatmatrimony Group was formed in 1997 and it has a registered user base of more than 15 million for all its sites combined together.
