Shemaroo strikes Rs 260 million satellite deal with Zee

Shemaroo Entertainment cuts a deal with Zee TV for the satellite broadcast rights of 10 Hindi films

Shemaroo Entertainment has inked a Rs 260 million deal with Zee TV for the satellite broadcast rights of 10 Hindi films. The agreement includes movies such as Dhamaal, Dhol, Manorama Six Feet Under, Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Raqeeb, Yatra and Anuranan. Zee TV has paid Rs 26 crore for the rights.

Vinod Karani, vice-president, content syndication, Shemaroo Entertainment, says, “To be associated with Zee is a moment of joy for us. Content syndication involves a lot of thought and planning, keeping in mind the nature of content and the platform of syndication. We are certain that this satellite deal with Zee will prove beneficial to both.”

Hiren Gada, director, Shemaroo Entertainment, adds, “As a large content aggregator for the broadcast platform, it has been our effort to bring the best of content on various broadcast platforms.”

Earlier this year, Sony Entertainment Television acquired the exclusive world satellite rights of five blockbuster movies from India’s premier movie banner, Yash Raj Films. The movies were Chak De! India, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Laaga Chunari Main Daag and Aaja Nachle.
