MediaE2E integrates vTap web video service in TV programme guide

The vTap web service enables users to easily search, discover and view the web videos of different channels

MediaE2E, a company specialising in TV programme guide services, has signed an agreement with Veveo Inc., a Massachusetts based technology company, which delivers Internet video discovery to users, to offer the vTap web video discovery service. The vTap service will be available at MediaE2E’s Indian TV programme guide website, Zipazap.com.

Zipazap is a TV listings and programme guide service that was launched in early 2007. Zipazap has close to 300 Indian TV channel schedules and a line-up of programme listings. MediaE2E serves its TV listings and programme guide to users through its multi-platform solutions, which include online, mobile, IPTV, DTH and cable.

The vTap web service will enable users to easily search, discover and view the web videos of different channels. Users can access videos from all over the Internet and play them on their mobile phones, desktops and TV sets. vTap also arranges results and allows devices to display them in a way that makes it easy to browse and select the desired video clip.

Atul Phadnis, chief executive officer, MediaE2E, says, “Browsers who are looking for specific TV content on our website would also like to preview the programme they choose to watch. This generally helps them decide if they really should be investing time in the chosen programme or pick others of their preference. vTap will equip them with the video option and boost the programme viewing and selection process. Overall, we hope to unleash a wider and richer video search experience for our users through this technology.”

While Zipazap.com and wap.zipazap.com are online and mobile TV programme guides, respectively, MediaE2E is also powering set-top boxes in India across various TV operators with its TV listings.

Satya Ramaswamy, director of strategy and business development, Veveo Inc., says, “Today’s consumers expect to find content of interest to them from anywhere they are on the Web with just a few clicks. Veveo’s vTap widget provides Web publishers a way to very easily embed a powerful web video discovery tool on their own web pages. We expect that embedding the vTap widget on MediaE2E’s TV listings and programme guide website, Zipazap.com, will enable users to find web videos on topics of interest to them exactly when they are looking for them.”
