Lowe gets a clutch on the Swift Sedan

The Swift Sedan is expected to be launched in March

Two weeks ago, agencyfaqs! reported that Maruti Suzuki India Ltd had called a pitch for its new launch, the Swift Sedan. Reliable sources now confirm that the creative business for the Swift Sedan has been awarded to Lowe, one of Maruti’s roster agencies.

Maruti Suzuki India has four agencies on its roster, all of which took part in the pitch process: O&M, Lowe, Hakuhodo Percept and Capital Advertising. Lowe already has five Maruti brands in its kitty: the SX4 (the refurbished Baleno), the Omni, the Alto, the Esteem and the Versa; the Swift Sedan now makes up the sixth. The SX4 was launched in May 2007. O&M has the Zen Estilo and Capital has the Swift.

The first in the Swift range
The Swift entered the Indian market in 2005, and its launch was the company’s most significant since the introduction of the Maruti 800 two decades ago. Through a unique promotion, the first ever taken up by Maruti, the Indian audience caught a glimpse of the car in Yash Raj Films’ Bunty aur Babli. A year later, the eagerly awaited diesel version of the Swift hit the road.

The SX4 was launched in May 2007. The Swift Sedan, the new sedan from the company, and the third under the Swift label, will bear a strong family resemblance. It has a 1.3 litre petrol engine. It is likely to be launched in March, while the diesel version is expected to be rolled out towards the end of 2008.
