STAR Plus will roll out a new game show in May, which will be hosted by Hindi film star Shah Rukh Khan

This May, the

king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, will come into your living rooms once again, this time as the host for a brand new game show on STAR Plus. Kya Aaap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? is based on the international Mark Burnett format show, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, and is being produced in India by Synergy Adlabs.

Khan will also host the fourth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) for STAR Plus later this year, despite a not so hot third season in 2007.

According to Uday Shankar, chief executive officer, STAR India, "The new show has an extremely unique format. It is meant for viewing by the entire family. Shah Rukh is extremely at ease and connects really well with our audience. No wonder he will be back as the host for the new game show."

The format for Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? germinated in the US. It features adult contestants facing questions picked directly from the textbooks of first to fifth graders. The winners in the show get to take away prize money to the tune of Rs 5 crore. STAR Plus is currently working out the short-listing process and will soon open phone lines for prospective contestants.

The show, which has already been launched in 50 countries so far, is being brought to India by Bulldog Media and Entertainment, a company that specialises in the worldwide acquisition and development of intellectual property rights in the television market.

This is the second time Synergy Adlabs will be producing a reality game show based on an international format. Its first venture was KBC.
