Kapdanak of McCann to judge radio entries at Clio 2008

Akshay Kadpanak joined McCann as a management trainee in 1998, and has been with the agency ever since

Akshay Kapdanak, creative director, McCann-Erickson Mumbai, has been invited as a judge at the 49th Annual Clio Awards Festival, which is scheduled to be held on May 14-17. He will judge the radio entries for the awards with a group of other creative professionals, under Bob Winter, vice-president and creative director, Leo Burnett Worldwide, Chicago, Illinois.

Kapdanak is a graduate of the JJ School of Arts in Mumbai. He joined McCann immediately after he finished his graduation in 1998; he was then a management trainee. He has been with McCann ever since. He was promoted as junior visualiser. Less than two years later, he was moved up as senior visualiser. Within a year, he was made creative group head at the agency, and he served in that role for three years. One and a half years ago, he was named creative director.

Currently, Kapdanak is in charge of accounts such as Barclays, Pears, Kwality Wall’s, Parachute Advansed, Radio Mirchi, Shaadi.com, Mediker and Stayfree. In his previous roles at the agency, he has also worked on Coca-Cola, Vaseline and Tata Indicom Broadband.

Kapdanak has a Cannes gold, an Ad Fest bronze, a NewYork Festivals gold and a London International nomination to his credit. This is not his first stint at judging awards; he has served on the film jury at the Ad Fest.

The Clio Awards, part of Nielsen Business Media, receives more than 19,000 entries from over 60 countries in a broad range of media, including interactive, television/cinema/digital, content and contact, print, poster, billboard, innovative media, integrated campaign, radio, design and student work.
