GoaFest 2008: MindShare wins the most awards in media

There were no specific awards given to the agency that won the most awards. All agencies participated in the media awards this year

The media awards have been announced at the GoaFest. MindShare has won seven awards in various categories, thus winning the most media awards. Lodestar Universal came a close second with five awards to its credit.

The jury included LS Krishnan, Mudra Radar; Vikram Sakhuja, Group M; Nandini Dias, Lodestar Universal; CD Mitra, Mudra MAX; Jasmin Sohrabjee, OMD; Sam Balsara, Madison; and Shashi Sinha, Lodestar Universal. Shashi Sinha said, “I am glad that all the media agencies participated.” The process was carried out in two stages, and Round 2 had 97 entries.

In the Best Use of Cinema category, MATES won the bronze for Cheeni Kum, A Sugar Free Romance. Mudra Radar won the silver for Big 92.7 FM’s Are You in the Spotlight? campaign. There was no gold given out in this category.

In the category for Best Use of Newspapers and Magazines, two bronze awards were given – to the Starcom Media Vest Group for its work for Jet Airways, the Creating More Space campaign, and to Madison Media for its work for Axis Bank, the Everything is the Same Except the Name campaign. No silver was awarded in this category, but two golds were given. The first one went to Lodestar Universal for the MS Office 2007 launch, and the other to Lintas Media Group Bangalore for Candyman – 3D Chutti Vikatan.

The next category was Vertical Marketing. There were just two nominees in this category and no gold was awarded. The silver was awarded to Mindshare for HSBC Premiere – Bluecasting. The bronze was awarded to Lodestar Universal for Asahi Glass’ See More.

The Best Use of Radio category had two golds and a silver being given out. Lintas Media Group’s Bingo Tick Tock Boing! won one of the golds and Madison Media’s Saffola World Heart Day Radio Conference won the other. McDonald’s Home Delivery won the silver for Madison Media.

The Bingo launch campaign won Lintas Media Group a silver in the Best Use of Youth Marketing category. In the Best Use of Television category, Vodafone – Roadblock, the campaign in which all 13 channels of the STAR Network aired only the Hutch is now Vodafone commercial by Maxus; Singapore Tourism Board – Baa Bahoo aur Baby by the Starcom Media Vest Group; and Parle Hide ‘n’ Seek Nach Baliye 3 by TME won the gold, silver and bronze, respectively.

The category for Best Use of Pro Bono Marketing received no entries. Mindshare won a gold and a bronze for the HSBC Premiere – Bluecasting campaign and the STAR Movies – Pirates of the Caribbean TV premiere, respectively, in the category for Best Use of Internet and New Media. The Lifebuoy – Gurudwara activation was the sole winner – it won a silver – in the Outdoor and Ambient Media category.

In the category for Best Use of sponsorship, Amul STAR Voice of India won the gold for Lodestar Universal. BSNL Weather Report by Media Direction, a RK Swamy Media agency, won a silver. Mudra Connext (earlier OMS) won a bronze for Yatra.com’s Amazing Yatra campaign.

MindShare won a silver for Best Use of Special Events, Stunts/ Live Advertising for the work it did on Lenovo – Radio Billboard. In the Best Use of Branded Content category, Maxus won a gold for Reebok – Goal Collection; Lodestar Universal won a silver for Tata Indicom – Fun on the Run; and Media Direction RK Swamy Media Group won a bronze for Visa International Credit Card – Cricket Anthem.

Mindshare won a gold for Horlicks’ Tiding over Exams and a silver for Pfizer India – Gelusil Antacid’s Coffee, Tea or Me campaign in the Best Use of Mixed Media category. The second silver was won by Lodestar Universal for Microsoft Windows Vista – The WOW effect. Mindshare Fulcrum won a bronze for Dove Haircare – Honest Beauty.
