Matrubhumi to launch travel magazine this month

The magazine is called Yatra Now and it will be priced at Rs 40

Matrubhumi, the Malayalam publishing group, will launch a travel magazine in mid-April. The magazine is called Yatra Now and it will be priced at Rs 40. The Matrubhumi Group has not decided about the frequency of the magazine. It would like to test market the first issue of the product and will decide on the frequency according to the response from the readers.

Yatra Now will be published in Malayalam. It is targeted at individuals and families in the SEC A,B and C segments, who are avid travellers. The objective of the magazine is to provide travel related information from South India and from a few international locations. As of now, the magazine will not cover travel locations in North India.

The content will be designed to address travellers’ needs. It will include regular travel related features and travel information, such as lodging facilities, food and entertainment, hotels, restaurants, getting there, total costs involved and sightseeing information. The initial print run will be 50,000-60,000 copies. The magazine will have an average 100 pages per issue.

Some of Matrubhumi’s other publications include Mathrubhumi Illustrated Weekly, Grihalakshmi, Chitrabhumi, Thozilvartha, Mathrubhumi Sports Masika, Balabhumi and Arogya Masika. The Matrubhumi daily has a total of 13 editions with a total circulation of 1,106,824 copies (January-June 2007).
