Conde Nast India to add Wired to list of forthcoming titles

The magazine features technological gadgets and gizmos and reports how they affect social culture, economy and politics

Conde Nast, the US based publishing house, will be adding one more title to its planned list of international magazines for the Indian market. The publishing house plans to bring Wired magazine to India by 2009. The magazine features technological gadgets and gizmos and reports how they affect social culture, economy and politics.

In 2007, agencyfaqs! reported that Conde Nast India was planning to launch international titles such as GQ, Glamour, Traveller and Vanity Fair. While the company has officially announced the launch of GQ in October, next on the cards is the film celebrity magazine, Glamour.

Wired is published monthly in the US. The total circulation for the magazine in the US region was 7,00,000 copies in 2007. The content for Wired includes topics such as technological trends, interviews of tech gurus, gadget information and tech features on movies, cars and the environment.

Alex Kuruvilla, managing director, Conde Nast India, says that the publishing house is launching its titles in a very planned manner. The company is in no hurry to rush with the launch of issues. It’s focusing on quality and taking time to research the market and judge the responses from readers with the launch of each title. Wired will be launched after the publishing house launches Vanity Fair magazine next year.

In May 2007, Wired won the National Magazine Award for general excellence. Apart from Wired, Conde Nast may also consider launching Tatler, the magazine on society and social trends amongst the upper socioeconomic groups, in India.
