Arpan Chatterjee to drive sales and growth for NaiDunia

He has joined NaiDunia Group as chief sales and marketing officer

The NaiDunia Group has got Arpan Chatterjee on board as chief sales and marketing officer. Chatterjee will be in charge of NaiDunia newspaper and webdunia portal, the two properties of NaiDunia Group.

Commenting on the new appointment, Vinay Chhajlani, chief executive officer and director, NaiDunia Group, says, “Today I see the NaiDunia Group as a sixty year old start up company, we are going through a transition phase. And in this context, the mindset, skill set, and value system that Chatterjee brings along is crucial in the group making a move from being in survival mode to growth mode.”

Chhajlani adds, “Chatterjee's huge experience gathered outside the NaiDunia Group will be a major contributing factor to our growth. His mandate will be to initiate and establish new sales and marketing process for the business and unlock the value of the brand.”

For Chatterjee the appointment translates in to second stint with the NaiDunia Group. He was with the organisation between 2000-2003, driving sales for webdunia. Chatterjee attributes his comeback to the great comfort level and synergy of ideas that he still shares and identifies with the organisation.

As far as his new role and responsibility at NaiDunia Group is concerned, Chatterjee says, “My main focus is to integrate media, sales and marketing processes for the group. The idea is to achieve complete automation and aim for complete ownership covering sales and marketing (revenue) across the medium, encompassing print and the web.”

He calls himself as a 'start up specialist', as he has been instrumental in initiating new business processes for different organisations. Chatterjee explains “It’s an exciting time for the NaiDunia Group. My industry experience with web and Internet tells me as much.”

Experience and track record of Chatterjee in the web domain stands him in good stead when it comes to believing his word. He quit Cybermedia's job portal as associate vice-president, marketing, sales and customer care to take up his new role. He adds, “It is this experience coupled with expertise gathered while working with Andale Inc, provider of automated selling systems to auction sites such as eBay that has given me an in-depth understanding of how webportal business functions.” Exposure to online technology and knowledge of functionalities of a portal business equip him to bring in far fetched changes for NaiDunia's portal webdunia and related businesses.

Aiming for high growth to boost and augment revenue generation, Chatterjee has plans for the Group. NaiDunia claims to be the market leader in Indore and it is soon going in for an expansion mode with new launches planned in the current year. Chatterjee shies away from zeroing on the new region or states where new editions will be launched. But he reveals that their focus is to conquer new geographical territories, primarily targeting Hindi speaking markets. And he reveals that to begin with Bhopal will soon get to see a newspaper from NaiDunia Group.

“We are going to call for an pitch soon, calling in creative agencies. So the year will see lot of action happening for NaiDunia Group,” concludes Chatterjee.
