R Ravi Shankar joins Dentsu Marcom Mumbai

Shankar will head Dentsu’s Mumbai branch. He takes over from Ashish Dabral, who was recently promoted as COO

R Ravi Shankar has joined Dentsu Marcom as head of the Mumbai operations. Shankar joins Dentsu from SSC& B Lintas, where he was executive vice-president, overseeing the entire operations of the agency. Shankar takes over from Ashish Dabral, who was recently promoted as chief operating officer of Dentsu Marcom.

Dabral says, “Ravi’s experience and maturity will be an asset to Dentsu Marcom’s growth plans in Mumbai. We hope he will keep up the momentum of growth at the agency.”

Explaining why he chose to move to Dentsu, Shankar says, “The team at Dentsu is young and energy levels are high.” He will also have the agency’s Ahmedabad operations reporting to him.

An MMS holder from the SP Jain Institute of Management and an honours graduate in economics, Shankar has more than 20 years of experience and has worked on several brands, including some from Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), United Spirits, ICICI, Videocon and Hyundai Motors.

Before joining SSC&B Lintas, Shankar was general manager, Parle Agro. Prior to that, he was marketing manager at sports brand Puma.

For the record, in March, Dentsu promoted Ashish Dabral from vice-president to COO, and Adrian Mendonza from executive creative director to national creative director.
