Dish TV claims to be the country’s largest DTH service provider

Arun Kumar Kapoor, chief executive officer, Dish TV, has put in his papers. His next destination is not known yet.

Dish TV is a direct to home (DTH) television service offered by the Essel Group, the parent company of the Zee Network. It beams television channels directly to consumers’ homes via satellite, doing away with the intermediary local cable service provider.

Sources confirmed to agencyfaqs! that Kapoor, who joined the company 18 months ago, is moving out in search of better career opportunities. During his brief stint at Dish TV, Kapoor was instrumental in strengthening the company’s position as India’s largest DTH service provider. Under his guidance, the company successfully faced the competition from the multiple players emerging in the market. Thus, Dish TV moved away from being a complacent player in a monopoly market to a leader in a free, competitive market.

Currently, Dish TV boasts of a wide distribution network with 575 distributors and 38,000 dealers operating in 4,400 towns across the country. It offers viewers 65 television and 20 audio channels. Dish TV has the complete bouquet of channels for Zee, STAR and the One Alliance at present.
