Big FM gets new director, Kolkata station head

Viplove Gupte has joined as director, national programming, and Ramita Chaudhuri has been promoted as station head, Kolkata

Big 92.7FM has appointed Viplove Gupte director of national programming.

Before moving here, Gupte was head of national programming at My FM. He was also a part of the core team responsible for launching 16 stations in 18 months at My FM.

In his new role at Big FM, Gupte will report to Manav Dhanda, head, national programming.

Speaking about his new assignment, Gupte says, “I have been working in Delhi for the past few years. I was looking for an opportunity to move back to Mumbai. So, I am quite excited about my new assignment.”

Gupte started his career with Swift Advertising, followed by a stint at Brainwave Visualisers. He then crossed over to the radio industry, joining Radio Mirchi. When Radio Mirchi launched its first radio station at Indore, Gupte was the programming head there. His next destination was My FM, which he joined in September 2006. He has also served as group head, creative, at Mirchi Movies, the Times Group subsidiary for film production.

Besides getting Gupte on board, Big FM has also promoted Ramita Chaudhuri as station head, Kolkata. Earlier, Chaudhuri was working as head, regional marketing, Eastern region, Big FM.

As station head, Kolkata, Chaudhuri will be responsible for the overall functioning of the station and is expected to drive its profitability. Chaudhuri will report to Rohit Dhar, regional director, East, Big FM.
