Jagran-18 appoints Sanjay Bhatla national sales head

Bhatla will be in charge of the Hindi business daily being planned by the joint venture

Jagran-18 Publications has appointed Sanjay Bhatla national sales head. Earlier, Bhatla was senior general manager, sales, at the Bhaskar Group.

Jagran18 is a 50:50 joint venture between Television Eighteen (TV18), a subsidiary of Network18, India’s leading full play media conglomerate, and Jagran Prakashan (JPL), print major and publisher of India’s largest read daily, Dainik Jagran.

In his new role, Bhatla will lead the organisation to new markets, and help build and augment sales. Commenting on Bhatla’s appointment, Bharat Kapadia, chief executive officer and managing editor, Jagran-18, says, “Sanjay, with his accomplished background in building businesses and growing brands, will be a key architect of our plans. With rich experience in media and consumer durables, he brings with him an intimate understanding of consumption patterns, advertising trends and new business opportunities.”

Bhatla has a total experience of 20 years, with a background in handling sales for major consumer durable brands such as Kelvinator, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG and Videocon, and various print media ventures. In his last assignment at Dainik Bhaskar, Bhatla spearheaded the launch of Divya Bhaskar.

Bhatla will now play a pivotal role in launching the Hindi business daily being planned by Jagran-18. This will be followed by other economic and financial Indian language dailies under the joint venture.
