Sunita Uchil of Big FM promoted as national sales director

Uchil will be responsible for ad sales and business development


92.7 FM has promoted Sunita Uchil as national sales director. Earlier, Uchil was regional sales director. She joined Big FM in 2007.

In her new role, Uchil will be responsible for ad sales, business development, strategic thinking and implementation, and team building across the 44 stations of Big FM. She will be based in Mumbai and report to Praveen Malhotra, national sales head, integrated sales unit, for Big FM, Big Digital and Big Street.

Malhotra says, "Sunita has been with the company for over a year and played a significant role in contributing to the substantial rise in revenues. In her new position, we expect similar results from her."

Uchil is confident that her experience of 10 years equips her to face the challenges offered by the radio industry. She says, "Radio has to come up to the expectations of listeners and advertisers. The station has the task of offering quality content to listeners and, at the same time, attracting the right kind of advertisers by providing them with the right kind of target audience."

The major challenge on hand is to break the age old habit of listeners tuning in to radio for just 20-25 minutes on an average per day. Big FM aims to make radio the all time entertainment option for listeners.

In her long association with the industry, Uchil has dabbled with languages such as Arabic, Hindi and Malayalam.

Prior to joining Big FM, Uchil was with The Times of India. She has also worked with Hum FM, UAE, as director, sales.
