Media Ventures, a company promoted by the founders of Webchutney, has launched an ad network called GoSindbad.com, which is targeted at travel and airline sites in India.
GoSindbad.com aggregates the advertising inventory for online travel agents and other travel related portals or blogs. The network has already tied up with sites such as Makemytrip.com, Yatra.com, AirDeccan.net, Zoomtra.com, Ixigo.com and Tripmela.com. Advertisers that have come on board are Tata AIG, ICICI Lombard, Airtel, HP and Volkswagen.
Ravneesh Dhaneshwar, business head, GoSindbad.com, says, "GoSindbad.com is in its beta phase at the moment. It will be open to regular users in a month's time. It will offer advertising options such as banner and mailer advertising. Apart from this, we are also building an inventory for SMS marketing. This will be a value added service and it will insert ads as alerts in the SMSes that are delivered to the travel portal members."
Goosefish Media Ventures will launch another ad network called DivaNation.in focused on women's portals. It has already tied up with sites such as SanjeevKapoor.com, Trendy.in and Indiwo.com and is talking to more women related portals. The DivaNation website is still in its testing phase and is not open to regular users yet.
A spokesperson from Goosefish Media Ventures says, "We have evaluated every space and finally decided to launch only two vertical ad networks focused on travel and women. We don't have the bandwidth for other networks as of now."
An ad network basically connects advertisers with publishers. It ties up with advertisers and enables them to get their ads placed on the sites where they expect their target audience will be available and helps publishers by selling or serving ads on their site.
