Ad Club announces Young Achievers Awards

The awards will felicitate creative excellence in professionals younger than 30 years, or with less than 10 years of experience

The Advertising Club of Bombay, more commonly known as the Ad Club, has announced a new awards ceremony. The awards are open to young advertising professionals and are called The Young Achievers Awards. The awards will felicitate creative excellence in professionals younger than 30 years, or with less than 10 years of experience.

The awards will be held this year on August 22 at the Taj Lands End hotel in Bandra. The awards have been divided into two segments. The first segment is called Creative and is a mix of copy, art and filmmaking. Awards will be given out for Best Art Director, Copywriter, Movie Maker and the Most Creative Person. The second segment is called Business and the awards here are for Best Business Leader, Brand Marketer, Media Person, Digital Person and Sales Person.

A fairly new committee called the Young Turks came up with the idea of the Young Achievers Awards. The Young Turks is a committee set up by the Ad Club, which is made up of younger professionals in their 20s and early 30s. The committee was set up because it was felt that most awards are won by senior creative professionals and industry stalwarts; there was nothing for the younger people. The Young Turks see the Young Achievers Awards as an opportunity to recognise younger professionals for their leadership and excellence in creativity.

Work can be submitted as a group or individually as long as the age rule is adhered to. Creative work can be submitted in print, film or audio in the desirable format and must have been published (proof of release needs to be attached). Other work must be submitted as case studies with objectives and results specified. All submitted entries must be authenticated by the agency/ organisation concerned.

“I am confident that there will be great quality work at the awards,” says Sunil Lulla, chairperson, Young Achievers Awards.

The jury members haven’t been selected yet. Lulla says, “The judges will be people whom the Young Achievers look up to as mentors.” The judging will take place on August 12.

The sponsors for the event are Kohinoor, Royal Palms Property, Sunny Foresight and VCI Hospitality.
