STAR appoints Jyotsna Viriyala as V-P, programming

Viriyala was earlier assistant vice-president at MCCS

STAR India has appointed Jyotsna Viriyala vice-president, programming. Viriyala will look after the STAR World and STAR Movies channels in India, spearheading content strategies, scheduling and acquisition for both channels.

She will be based in Mumbai and report to Jennifer Batty, V-P, programming, STAR World, and Brian Lau, V-P, programming, STAR Movies.

Viriyala was earlier with Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS), which has channels such as STAR News, STAR Majha and STAR Ananda. There, she served as assistant vice-president, overseeing research, business strategies, operations and on-air promotions. MCCS is a joint venture between STAR India and Anandabazar Patrika.

Viriyala has also worked at ICICI’s travel venture, Traveljini.com, as marketing and brand manager. She has done stints with JWT and Fulcrum in the media planning and buying functions, respectively.
