and Fear Factor-Khatron Ki Khiladi are reality-based shows, but in the coming months, Endemol India, the company which produces these TV shows, plans to launch these shows in the format of games. Offline version of the games, in the compact disc (CD) format, will be launched in a few months and an online version will be launched by the end of this year.
Characters of the reality-shows will be represented as avatars in the game and gamers will be allowed to choose an avatar and perform certain tasks inside the virtual worlds of these games.
This is not the first time that Endemol is venturing into gaming. Internationally, the company has partnered with EA games, a gaming company, to launch online games for shows such as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and Fame Academy. Other TV shows which will be launched as games in India are 1vs 100 and Set for Live.
Dhar declined to comment on how these games will be monetised in India and what percentage of revenue the company earns through gaming in the international markets.
It will be interesting to watch out whether the popularity of these shows will get extended to the games.
