Speaking to afaqs!, Deepak Dhar, chief executive officer, Endemol India, says, "The main idea behind the launch of the games is brand extension – we want to ensure that our shows will touch our target audience through various routes." The company plans to sell the games to the youth in metros and non-metros. It is talking to companies for distribution of its gaming CDs.

This is not the first time that Endemol is venturing into gaming. Internationally, the company has partnered with EA games, a gaming company, to launch online games for shows such as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and Fame Academy. Other TV shows which will be launched as games in India are 1vs 100 and Set for Live.

Dhar declined to comment on how these games will be monetised in India and what percentage of revenue the company earns through gaming in the international markets.

It will be interesting to watch out whether the popularity of these shows will get extended to the games.
