Sachdev will lead the Consumer and Online International (COI) division, newly created by merging Microsoft’s consumer facing businesses
Microsoft India has appointed Hemant Sachdev joint managing director to lead its recently created division, Consumer and Online International (COI).
COI was formed by merging the consumer facing businesses of Microsoft. It includes consumer software, Windows Mobile, MSN and the online services and search businesses.
In an official communiqué, Ravi Venkatesan, chairman, Microsoft India, says, "Hemant brings with him the right blend of experience and innovation in the consumer space. As a company, we are renewing our focus and aligning our resources to deliver a great end to end consumer experience."

Sachdev has more than 20 years of experience in managing operations, retail and strategic marketing. At Bharti, he is part of the chairman's apex team and was responsible for building the Airtel brand.
His significant recognitions include Marketing Professional of the Year (2002), India's Achievers and Leadership Award for Excellence (2004), Best Marketing Strategy of the Year – Retail (2004), and India's Top Marketing Director Award (2006).
Jaspreet Bindra, who was country manager for Microsoft’s online services business, represented by MSN and Windows Live, has moved to look after the entertainment and devices business as regional director.
