R Subramaniyam national head of Ogilvy Live

Action, a division of Ogilvy & Mather, has announced the appointment of R Subramaniyam as national head, Ogilvy Live. Subramaniyam will be based in Mumbai and report to Sanjay Thapar, group president, North and East, Ogilvy & Mather.

Subramaniyam, popularly known as Subu in the industry, has more than 15 years of experience in advertising and integrated marketing, with specialised focus on events and promotions. He began his career in advertising with Everest and then moved into events with JWT (then known as HTA).

After quitting HTA, he joined Percept D'Mark. Later, he joined Publicis Dialog, the below-the-line arm of Publicis India. In his last assignment, Subramaniyam was responsible for the Mumbai office of Publicis Dialog.

R SubramaniyamSpeaking to afaqs! on his decision to join Ogilvy Live, Subramaniyam says, "Ogilvy Live is giving me a better portfolio. In Publicis Dialog, I was just handling the Mumbai office. Here, I am national head. Otherwise, there hasn't been much of a change in my work portfolio."

In an official communiqué, Sanjay Thapar, group president, North and East, Ogilvy & Mather, says, "Ogilvy as an agency truly and firmly believes in offering 360 degree communication solutions. Subu's appointment strengthens our position in the Live space significantly and demonstrates our belief even more. I am happy to have him with us, as his experience will help provide our clients and brands with new and innovative solutions in this space."

Subramaniyam has worked across many verticals and with many clients; some of these are ICICI Lombard, Citigroup's Smith Barney, Godrej Sara Lee, Cleartrip.com, Bisleri and Emami Navratna Oil.

Talking about his experiences, he says, "There is one project which I'll always hold dear to my heart. During an integrated campaign for ICICI Lombard, we, for the first time, used a monitoring system which told us the exact number of insurance policies that were being bought by people as a direct result of the campaign."

Ogilvy Live, which caters to the ground level brand communication needs of its clients, is a part of the Ogilvy Action umbrella, along with Ogilvy Landscapes, Ogilvy Outreach and Ogilvy Retail.
