Indigo & #BANNER1 & # Consulting, a Mumbai based digital agency, has won a Web Award for the Asian Paints website. The award is for outstanding achievement in website development in the Consumer Goods Standard of Excellence category.

The Asian Paints website,, showcases home décor tips, colour guides, a paint selector and other interactive features.

Speaking to afaqs!, Vikas Tandon, managing director, Indigo Consulting, says, "I think the key feature which helped the site win this award was that there was so much information and content to structure and organise and we have been able to create the website with only a few links on the home page. These links lead you to other pages, which provide detailed information on the products."

"Secondly, we developed the concept of interaction with colour. Visitors were able to change the skins on the home page, select shades, share them, and so on," adds Tandon.

The website also has microsites for major Asian Paints product lines such as Royale Play and Apco, which also involve interactivity. Tandon says more features are being created for the website, which will help people in their home décor arrangements.

In an official communiqué, Amit Syngle, vice-president, sales and marketing, Asian Paints, says, "We firmly believe that the Internet medium presents a very exciting channel to interact with our consumers, and that it is going to be the preferred medium for evolved consumers who are redecorating their homes. So, it forms a very important part of our communication strategy."

The Web Awards are presented by the Web Marketing Association, an independent volunteer organisation founded in 1997, which also presents the Internet Advertising Competition Awards.

The Web Marketing Association chooses winners based on seven criteria: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use. The websites are judged in 96 categories, including insurance, B2B, fashion and games.
