Samsung signs Abhinav Bindra as brand ambassador

This Olympics hero is certainly reaping the reward for his endeavour at the Games. Samsung Electronics has appointed ace shooter and gold medalist, Abhinav Bindra as brand ambassador for its consumer electronics business in India.

A company spokesperson informed afaqs!, “The contract is for one year and would start with print and outdoor campaign.” When asked if any TV commercial is expected, the spokesperson replied in the affirmative.

The company plans to leverage Bindra in its brand advertising as well as product advertising. Synonymous with its thrust on introducing innovative, consumer oriented, breakthrough technology products, Samsung will unveil its first product ad campaign with Abhinav Bindra for LCD TVs. Samsung India currently has a range of over 30 LCD models in 22” to 70” screen sizes, priced in the range of Rs 19,000 to Rs 2,400,000.

The spokesperson remarks that with Bindra possessing qualities like excellence and performance, he is in sync with Samsung LCD TVs. The tagline of the campaign is, ‘Design is a passion, performance is a thriller’.

Focussing on the design and performance of their LCD TV, Samsung hopes to achieve a 45 per cent market share by the end of this year.

Speaking on the occasion of the signing ceremony, Bindra says, “I am very proud to be associated with a global brand like Samsung that is not only recognized for its technological leadership, but also its commitment to global sporting events like Olympics. Samsung products epitomize the best in technology, design and quality and I am indeed delighted to be endorsing the best.”

Abhinav Bindra was the Samsung Olympic Ratna for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
