Sanjay Bhatla joins Deccan Chronicle as V-P West

Prior to this, Bhatla had a brief stint with the yet-to-be-launched Hindi business paper of the Jagran 18 venture

Sanjay Bhatla, after a brief stint of five months with Jagran18, has joined Deccan Chronicle as vice-president, sales, West, Deccan Chronicle.

Bhatla will report to Amit Shukla, chief executive officer, Deccan Chronicle. Speaking to afaqs!, Shukla says, “Our existing structure calls for every branch to have the senior leadership resting on two individuals. Given this structure, we had a gap in Mumbai, which we have successfully filled up now.”

At Jagran 18 (a 50-50 joint venture between TV18, a subsidiary of Network18, and Jagran Prakashan), Bhatla worked on the launch strategy for the yet to be launched Hindi business daily.

At Deccan Chronicle, he will be responsible for advertising revenue for Gujarat, Maharashtra (including Mumbai) and Goa.

Prior to Jagran 18, Bhatla worked with the Bhaskar Group for more than five years as senior general manager. At the Bhaskar Group, he spearheaded the advertising revenues of Divya Bhaskar. He has an overall experience of 20 years, including handling sales for major consumer durable brands such as Kelvinator, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG and Videocon, and various print media ventures.

afaqs! had tried to contact Bhatla, but he was not available for any comments.
