Ambareesh Chakraborty takes on creative reins for TBWA India West

Chakraborty has an experience of 12 years in advertising and has been with O&M all this while

After Anirban Sen being made in charge of the creative function for TBWA India's northern and southern regions, and Mayur Hola taking charge as the creative head for the Delhi branch, it's the turn of the western region. Ambareesh Chakraborty, senior creative director, O&M Sri Lanka, has been roped in to head the creative flow of the Mumbai and Pune offices of the agency.

Talking about Chakraborty's appointment, Shiv Sethuraman, chief executive officer, TBWA India Group, says in a release, “ I have known and respected Chakraborty from the day he first joined the business. I am certain we will benefit from his immense talent and his ability to think beyond just TV.”

Chakraborty began his career in advertising in 1996 with O&M and was with the agency in various roles until now. He joined O&M immediately after stepping out of the National Institute of Design (NID), where he completed a diploma in Communication Design. Apart from working on the advertising function with O&M, he has also worked on customer relationship management (CRM) and digital.

From 1996 to 2001, he was involved in the advertising role. Subsequently, he shifted to Ogilvy One. In 2006, he moved to O&M Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he was leading a creative team of 35 people.

Chakraborty has several national and international awards to his credit – the Abbys, the Echo and AdSpot. During his stint at O&M India, he has worked on brands such as Hindustan Lever, Kaya Skin Clinic, Marico Industries, Reliance Mutual Fund, Asian Paints, Child Relief and You (CRY) and Worldwide Fund for Nature(WWF).

At O&M Sri Lanka, he has worked on brands such as Lion Beer, Coca-Cola, Fanta Portello, Schweppes Soda and was also responsible for the launch of Iodex in the country.

Chakraborty says, “I am looking forward to my new assignment and its new challenges. TBWA's disruption approach is unique and finding ways to translate it into great creative promises to be exciting and fun.”
