Lal returns to India after a three year stint as managing director of Euro RSCG, Malaysia

growing economy, it seems, is proving to be a great pull factor for many abroad to return to their homeland. After Wasim Basir returned from China to join Rediffusion DY&R (now Rediffusion Y&R) just about a week ago; it's Rajiv Lal now, who, after a three-year stint in Malaysia, is lured back to join Perspectrum Consultancy as its chief executive officer.

Lal will report directly to Harinder Singh, vice-chairman and managing director and Shailendra Singh, joint managing director.

Confirming the news to afaqs!, Lal says, "The economy is growing at an unprecedented rate and I wanted to be part of all the action happening here."

Rajiv LalAs for the decision to join Perspectrum, Lal says there were three main reasons behind the move. "There are a huge number of entrepreneurs in this country, either going for B2B or B2C. It'll be great to support these companies in building their brand DNA and communications. Second, the business potential of these companies is great, and hopefully, we will grow together. And finally, it is nice to work for a company which is not that established yet, as established companies do not have much room for innovation. And besides, Percept is the only group in India and possibly the world, which marries the content and the communication aspect."

While in Malaysia, Lal was working with Euro RSCG as the managing director. During that stint, he specifically enjoyed working for two brands, "It was great working AmBank and Mamee, which was restructuring its brand portfolio in Malaysia to take on its international rivals like Nestlé. It was quite satisfying to work with these two brands."

Lal has 21 years' work experience and started his professional life in 1997, with several non-profit organisations. He has an MBA degree from IIM Ahmedabad, along with holding a Masters degree in mass communication. He has also worked with companies like iCRM, Infovision group, CIMS & eMR, Purple Arc Films and People Science Institute.

Lal has significant international marketing experience, with expertise in CRM Consultancy, CRM software development, data mining and digital media.

Perspectrum is the integrated marketing consultancy division of Percept Limited, an entertainment, media and communications company. It handles brands like Idea and Ajmal Group, amongst others.
