Mindshare revamps Southern operations

Mindshare has promoted two key people in the South, while a third one is on his way out

Subramanian Swaminathan (popularly known as Subbu), general manager, Bengaluru and Chennai, Mindshare, has decided to move on. Subbu has been a part of Mindshare for the past six years. He will join Private Treaties, an initiative by the Times Group, as general manager in Chennai.

Mindshare has promoted Sindhu Raghavan as partner, client leadership, Chennai. Raghavan, who was earlier business director, Mindshare Chennai, will assume her new role from November 1.

She started her career with Universal McCann Delhi and then moved to Initiative. She joined Mindshare in 2006 to handle the Pepsi Flavours account and was relocated to Chennai later that year. She was responsible for setting up the Chennai office. Over the years, she has worked on brands such as General Motors, Bacardi, LG and Maruti.

Talking to afaqs! about her immediate plans, Raghavan says, “We want to position ourselves as a marketing consultancy and not just a media agency. Also, we have no immediate plans to set up more offices in the South as we want to concentrate on the smaller markets we have ventured into.”

Mindshare has also appointed Abhijat Sharma partner, client leadership, in Bengaluru. Sharma will join Mindshare in December. He comes from MediaCom, where he was group director, West Asia and North Africa, for the past five years. He has also worked at agencies such as Grey Worldwide, MENA, HTA (now JWT) and Madison.

Sharma has worked with major national and international companies such as PepsiCo, Maruti Suzuki, Glaxo SmithKline, Nokia and Audi-VW across India, West Asia and Africa. He has also worked on other key brands such as Tag Heuer, Vertu and ABN Amro.

Both Raghavan and Sharma will report to R Gowthaman, leader, South Asia. In an official communiqué, Gowthaman says, “These two appointments are pretty much in line with our client focussed structures. With this, we now have an 11 member client leadership team ready to roll across South Asia.”

Mindshare has five offices in South India in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and two satellite offices in Kochi and Coimbatore.
