Kiran, chief executive officer, South Asia, Starcom MediaVest Group, has been entrusted with additional responsibilities as emerging market leader of specialist solutions. This move aims to drive the growth of specialised communication tools in emerging markets such as China, India, Russia, West Asia, Mexico and Poland.
Speaking to afaqs!, Kiran explains his new role: "I will study the various emerging markets and accordingly introduce and expand the use of the non-classical solutions that Starcom MediaVest (SMV) has developed, such as Navia (OOH), Enhance (retail branding unit), Xpanse (rural marketing network) and Relay (sports marketing arm), in conjunction with the various country heads of Starcom."
At the Asia level, Jeffrey Seah has been appointed chief executive officer, Southeast Asia (including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam), with additional focus on digital expansion in these markets. Seah comes from Mindshare.
Paul Maher, who will continue to be chief executive officer of SMG's North Asia operations, will focus on China and oversee Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines and Korea. Together, they make the SMG Asia Leadership Team and will report to Andrew Swinand, president, global operations, SMG.
"Given the importance of growth in China and India, along with expanding our digital footprint in the region, I felt strongly that all three areas should receive top-level leadership focus," says Swinand in an official statement to the media.
