Pops on New York Festivals' TV-cinema jury

Pops, the national creative director of Leo Burnett, is the only Indian on the jury for this segment of the awards

KV Sridhar (Pops), national creative director, Leo Burnett, will be on the jury panel for the New York Festivals (NYF) 2009. Pops, who is the only Indian on the Television and Cinema Advertising jury, will judge the entries with other creative stalwarts from the international advertising space.

This will be Pops’ first stint at judging at the NYF. In the past, he has judged other international festivals such as the London International Advertising Awards and the AdFest, which is held every year in Bangkok.

The NYF has a unique online judging process, which was recently revamped to ease it further.

Pops says that a winning ad is one that has a fresh idea and is executed in a simple and well-crafted manner. He says he believes that the online judging system will allow each entry ample time and attention in an environment free of external distractions.

The NYF Awards recognise work from all over the world in all media, including television, cinema, print, outdoor, interactive, design, mixed media, collateral, radio and student advertising.

The NYF, now in its 51st year, has three standalone international competitions. These are the Midas Awards for Financial Services Communications, the Global Awards for Health Care Communications and the AME Awards for Advertising and Marketing Effectiveness.
