Aggie to judge NYF 2009

Though it is confirmed that Aggie will be a jury member, the category that he will judge has not been finalised yet

Agnello Dias (Aggie), the ex-chief creative officer of JWT, will be on the jury panel for the New York Festivals (NYF) 2009 for the print category. This comes close on the heels of the news of KV Sridhar (Pops), national creative director, Leo Burnett, being the only Indian on the Television and Cinema Advertising jury of the NYF 2009.

Over the years, Aggie has judged a host of award shows, such as the Indonesian Ad Awards, D&AD, London International Awards, Abbys and GoaFest.

Aggie to judge NYF 2009
Aggie feels that this year, due to the recession, the number of entries submitted for the NYF might decline, which might hamper India's chances of winning.

He feels that the Teach India, Idea and Himani Fast Relief campaigns might score at the NYF. He points out that the Lead India campaign may have a fair chance, too. Since the campaign was only sent to Cannes last year, it may qualify for the NYF this year.

The NYF Awards recognise work from all over the world in all media, including television, cinema, print, outdoor, interactive, design, mixed media, collateral, radio and student advertising.

The NYF, now in its 51st year, has three standalone international competitions – the Midas Awards for financial services communications, the Global Awards for health-care communications and the AME Awards for advertising and marketing effectiveness.
