Kamlesh Mehta on NYF 2009 jury

Mehta will be part of the jury panel that judges campaigns in the Digital and Interactive category

Kamlesh Mehta, senior creative director, RMG Connect, will be on the jury panel for the Digital and Interactive category of the New York Festivals (NYF) International Advertising Awards 2009.

The NYF has already roped in KV Sridhar (Pops), national creative director, Leo Burnett, and Agnello Dias (Aggie), ex-chief creative officer, JWT, as jury members for the Television and Cinema Advertising and Print categories, respectively.

In an official communiqué, Meera Sharath Chandra, president and national creative director, RMG Connect, says, “We are very proud of Kamlesh and know that he will fulfil his jury duties with the commitment, maturity and responsibility that the job demands. The NYF are great awards to judge in the interactive space. The quality of entries is extremely high and so is the volume.” Chandra was part of the NYF 2008 jury.

Speaking to afaqs!, Mehta says, “I am thrilled and excited. Such opportunities expose us to the best of the work done globally and that is the benchmark we always aim to surpass.”

He adds, “Digital campaigns from India have a good chance to win awards as a lot of improvements in terms of use of technology and ideation have taken place in earlier months. Campaigns carried out in India are now on par with international campaigns in terms of both ideation and technology.”

At RMG Connect, Mehta and his team of creative people handle brands such as MTV Roadies 6, STAR TV, Sony Bravia, Bharti AXA, Phoenix Mills, Legrand, Nike, CEAT and Godrej.

Some of the sub-categories which will be judged in the Digital and Interactive category are Email Marketing, Advergames, Viral Ads, Pop-Up and Pop-Under Ads, Webisodes, Simple and Rich Media Banner Ads, Widgets, Screensavers, Bluetooth Marketing, Mobisodes and SMS Marketing Campaigns.

The NYF Awards recognise work from 71 countries in all media, including television, cinema, print, outdoor, interactive, design, mixed media, collateral, radio and student advertising. In 2008, the awards witnessed a 23 per cent increase in entries submitted over the previous year.
