Komli Media appoints Prashant Mehta COO

Along with handling the operations of the existing business, Mehta will also help Komli expand and diversify into new businesses

Komli Media has appointed Prashant Mehta its chief operating officer. Mehta has moved in from Yahoo, where he was vice-president and head of monetisation, emerging markets, based in Singapore.

As COO, Mehta will look after the entire operations of the company and also be responsible for its expansion and diversification plans.

Komli Media is an online ad network. It also runs a lead generating business, called Loan Raja, for financial companies. Recently, Komli launched an Internet audience measurement division called Vizisense. Mehta will be responsible for all these divisions.

Mehta will be based in Mumbai and report to Amar Goel, chief executive officer, Komli Media. He says, “Apart from the operations part, I will be involved in planning and developing strategies for the expansion of our existing ventures.”

The immediate plan is to expand Loan Raja to involve new sectors and enlarge its scope beyond the financial sector. “Besides, we will diversify into new businesses and utilise the traction and relationships we have developed in the market,” adds Mehta, but declines to reveal any more.

Mehta is an MBA from the Wharton School (in the US) and has total work experience of about 19 years in the finance and dotcom sectors. He worked in companies such as Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan Chase and NatWest before he moved to Yahoo (the US) during the dotcom boom of 2000.

He worked at the Yahoo headquarters for six years before shifting to Singapore in 2006 to manage the company’s emerging markets business. Mehta directly handled the sales, advertising and search marketing teams in India and managed the different functions for West Asia, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia from Singapore.
