STAR India has licensed these two iconic characters to India’s first humour magazine, Random
Channel V's iconic fun characters, Simpoo Singh and Lola Kutty, are getting ready to appear in print. These two popular characters will soon debut in the columns of Random, India's first magazine in the humour genre, which is published by Twenty Onwards Media.
Sheetal Sudhir, vice-president and creative director, Channel V, says, "Both of our icons, Simpoo and Lola Kutty, have an unprecedented fan following, be it on television, calendars or notebooks. The association with Random is another step to interact with our viewers through a magazine on a monthly basis."
Varma shares that the two characters will be used as an intrinsic part of the content for the monthly magazine, which claims to have a circulation of 40,000 copies. They will be used in comic strips and will find mention in various columns and jokes. Varma believes that this tieup will bring a lot of value to Random readers.
In an official communiqué, Nanette D'sa, senior vice-president, licensing, STAR India, says, "Over the years, Channel V has developed a great franchise of characters that are unique and iconic to the youth. These characters are a great combination of wit and creativity. That's what encouraged us to look at the possibility of licensing them to a magazine, where they will make humorous reading."
