Nimbus Sport ropes in sponsors for India-Sri Lanka cricket series

India will play five One Day International matches and one Twenty20 match during the Sri Lankan tour

Nimbus Sport, after winning the global telecast rights for the upcoming India-Sri Lanka cricket series, has signed on a slew of brands as sponsors and closed deals with broadcasters across the globe.

Beginning January 28, India will play five One Day International (ODI) matches and one Twenty20 match during the Sri Lankan tour. The ODI series will be called the IDBI Fortis Wealthsurance Cup, with IDBI Fortis Life Insurance as the lead sponsor.

Other prominent brands on board are Hero Honda and Jaypee Cements. The IDBI Fortis Wealthsurance Cup will be broadcast in 12 countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Fiji, Singapore, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, South Africa, the United Kingdom and in some regions of West Asia.

In an official communiqué, Yannick Colaco, executive vice-president, Nimbus Sport, says, “The list of sponsors for the IDBI Fortis Wealthsurance Cup goes to prove that cricket provides a pan-Indian platform, cutting across all demographics.”

Nimbus has awarded the live Internet coverage of the series to www.cricketnirvana.com and www.willow.tv. Vikram Das, senior vice-president, international and syndication, Nimbus Sport, says, “Our credibility and global distribution reach enables us to ensure that international cricket produced and distributed by us reaches the widest possible audience on the best quality TV channels in every continent.”

For the record, Nimbus Sport manages various commercial rights for a number of global sports federations such as the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India)), the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Cricket Kenya and the English Premier League (digital and new media rights).
