Chandradeep Mitra quits Mudra Max, Pratap Bose is CEO

Mitra has been with Mudra since 2005 and now wants to start his own venture in the consulting space

Chandradeep Mitra, president, Mudra Max, has decided to move on to try his hand as an entrepreneur. Mitra is currently serving his notice period and will be with Mudra Max till the end of February.

Mitra plans to start his own venture in the consultancy space. He says that the venture will focus on executive coaching and relationship management, both between business partners as well as internal relationships between employees. He tells afaqs!, “I stumbled upon the consultancy idea in some books I was reading and I decided to explore the concept because it is at a very nascent stage in India.”

He says he hasn't finalised anything about his new venture, not even the name. Once he leaves Mudra, he will first go on a holiday and only then begin finalising the details of his entrepreneurial venture.

Pratap Bose is now the chief executive officer of Mudra Max. Both LS Krishnan (president, Mudra Radar) and Manas Mishra (executive vice-president and national head, Mudra Connext) will report to Bose.

Bose started his career as an accountant at Selvel Vantage and then moved to sales at the outdoor media house. In 1993, he joined Ogilvy and focussed on building the outdoor business. He was a part of the team that set up Ogilvy Landscapes, Ogilvy's outdoor arm. In 2002, Bose took over the operations of Ogilvy Live, the events and promotions division.

In 2003, he set up Ogilvy Signscapes, the retail and visual merchandising arm, and in 2004, he took charge of Ogilvy Outreach, the first and largest rural advertising and marketing unit in the country. In 2006, Bose became the youngest chief executive officer at Ogilvy. But after 15 years at O&M, in June 2008, he joined Mudra as chief operating officer.

Mitra says that the three years he spent with Mudra were very productive and the agency won many awards during that time. He feels that he has completed his assignment with Mudra by bringing it to this level and now it is time to let other people with new and fresh ideas take the agency further forward.

Mitra started off his career in client servicing in 1988 at Lowe (then Lintas). In 1992, he moved on to join an advertising agency called Goldwire, where he spent a year. He then joined O&M, where he was head of client servicing in Delhi, and later, in Bengaluru.

He rejoined Lowe in 1996 as vice-president and subsequently became president, Lintas Personal, in 2000. In 2003, he was given the additional charge of heading Lintas Healthcare. In 2005, he joined OMS as president.

In April 2008, Mudra became a full service agency when it included OMS and its other media agencies under Mudra Max.
