Prasoon Joshi, executive chairperson, McCann Worldgroup India, and regional creative director, McCann Asia Pacific has been asked to judge the Titanium and Integrated Lions category at Cannes 2009.
Joshi is the first Indian to be part of this jury. He will be judging the entries along with nine other admen from across the globe.
There & #BANNER1 & # are no categories in Titanium and Integrated Lions and the jury panel will judge the entry based on the core idea. Titanium aims to honour breakthrough ideas, while Integrated Lions will reward state-of-the-art integrated campaign entries.
He adds that India has just started producing such pathbreaking ideas, but as of now, he does not feel that any idea from India can qualify for the Titanium and Integrated Lions this year.
Incidentally, last year, India picked up its first Lion in the Titanium and Integrated category for the Lead India campaign by JWT. It was the first time that a campaign from India had been shortlisted for this category.
Joshi also feels that there might be a marginal drop in the entries this year from India, considering the current economic scenario, but most agencies will submit entries for Cannes 2009.
Last year, JWT led the awards tally for India with seven Lions, thanks to the Lead India campaign. Leo Burnett was at the second position, with six Lions for the Luxor Highlighter campaign.
Joshi has judged various award shows in the past. He was the chairman of the Cannes Outdoor and Ambient jury last year. Besides that, he has judged the One Show, Asian Advertising Awards (more popularly known as the Spikes), Ad Fest, D&AD Global Awards and Malaysian Creative Circle (MC2) awards.
