Ad Club Bombay (ACB) has organised the first round of the Global Effie Awards in Mumbai on March 4. This is the first time that the Global Effie judging will take place in India. A jury of marketing and advertising professionals, selected by ACB, will convene in Mumbai. The judges will assess the marketing communications effectiveness of entries for the Global Effie competition.
The Global Effie Awards honour case studies from the marketing and communications sector that have run across at least four countries and two regions worldwide.
Shashi Sinha, chief executive officer, Lodestar Media and an ACB managing committee member, speaks to afaqs! about the development and says that this is a great honour for India. He also clarifies that the judging will take place category-wise and not region-wise, so the jury members from India will be judging all the entries from across the globe.
Apart from India, the first round of judging will take place simultaneously in Buenos Aires, London and New York. The second round of short listing will take place in New York and the winners will also be announced at the annual Effie gala in New York in June.
For the records, JWT won the Grand Effie in 2008 for its campaign on Lead India and was also adjudged the Agency of the Year.
